For the new millenium:
- Campaign plans
- Meeting plans

Holiday Party

Dec 19, 4 - 8 pm
at Susan Steigerwalt's
16700 Warwick
(near Southfield and Six Mile)
313-531-2136
Please bring a snack to share.

Meetings are held at 7:30 PM on the first Thursday of each month (or the second Thursday if it is necessary to move the date) at the First United Methodist Church of Berkley, on the north side of Twelve Mile Road, third block west of Coolidge. We need your fresh ideas and energy - please join us.

The general opinion of the steering committee is that trying to do everything at every meeting is not the best approach. In the coming year (2000) we intend to alternate business meetings with educational meetings. Roughly every other month, we will be focusing on some aspect of the political struggle for universal health care. There may be a featured speaker on the subject, or some other type of presentation. The evening will be organized around this presentation. The months in between will be focused on organizational business. In effect, these will be similar to steering committee meetings for the group as a whole.

This is not to say that educational meetings can conduct no organizational business. It is not to say we cannot learn anything at a business meeting. But business items will be held to a minimum at the educational meetings. Presentations will be minimized at the business meetings. And we will see if this improves the overall effectiveness of the organization.
